Mother/Daughter (Mother's Day Weekend) Camping Trip

Sarah & I rode the two sorrels above (Lucky & Ranger) from the farm 5.2 miles and the Paint (Apache) carried our supplies. When we got to our campsite we turned the horses loose to graze in the pasture, but for some reason they wanted to be in the campground with us--Heh, heh. Of course, we choused them out before they could do any damage to the beautifully kept camp. Saturday, May 13, 2006.

My dog, "Big B" (Left), and Sarah's dog, "Floyd" (Right) decided to swim out to be with us in the boat, and we obliged by dragging them aboard, getting ourselves quite wet in the process. Saturday, May 13, 2006.

Bob drove out, after he got off work, to take me back to town so I could go to church with him at 5:00 p.m. Since I was wet from the dogs' coming aboard, I was glad for the chance to change my clothes. I got out of the boat via the dock, and Bob got in and helped Sarah row to shore. She stayed in camp while I was gone, to keep an eye on everything--three horses, three dogs, and a burning tree trunk. Saturday, May 13, 2006.

While I was in town, I bought some strip steaks and Sarah cooked them inside the log. It was so hot, they were done in a hurry. She cooked them in Coors Light beer and they came out nice & moist. Saturday, May 13, 2006.

My momma gave me this 12-string guitar a long, long time ago. Happy Mother's Day in Heaven, Mom! I can't wait to see you again. I love you. Saturday evening, May 13, 2006.

This little Perch is not as little as the FIRST fish Sarah caught this day; THAT one was smaller than the lure it took! It was sooooooo cute! That's Big B's Behind behind Sarah. Saturday, May 13, 2006.

I caught this nice Bass before 6:30 a.m. on a topwater lure. It was such an awesome morning to be out! The water was like glass, and with a full moon streaming on it, it was almost too hard to fish and not just sit there and stare at all the beauty--ALMOST, but not quite! HA! And then the morning clouds turned all kinds of pink and orange as the sun came up, and it just took my breath away; it was so lovely. Sunday morning, May 14, 2006.

At sunrise, we rowed the boat to shore here where the horses had spent the night tied up to that fence (to keep them out of mischief while we slept). I thought it was pretty the way their reflections shined in the water. Sunday morning, May 14, 2006.

On Sunday, Sarah switched horses, and her saddlehorse became her packhorse. We didn't pack much home, since we had to go back later for the boards and stuff. (We placed boards across the cattleguard so the horses could get across). That turned out to be a good thing, because Big B had a run-in with a car, and, even though he's fine now, at the time he didn't want to walk on his banged-up hind leg. So, here he is, riding in style in the saddlepack, while Lucky checks him out. Sunday morning, May 14, 2006.

Another picture of Big B riding in the pack. He stayed in there for about 2 & 1/2 miles and then he jumped out on his own, walking the last mile back to The Farm. There's a little skinned patch about the size of my thumb on his right hind leg. I think he's gonna be fine, but he sure is wore out! He just had surgery (neutered) two days ago (on Friday morning)! I think he enjoyed his weekend, though--we all did!
