HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME...YESTERDAY, or Sometimes You Just Need A Change

This has been a good week. It's been a while since I've had one of those.

I started working in my new area on Monday. I transferred from Department 162 to Department 164; from 13TCB to 13HFB; from Tourist Class Backs to Headrests, Footrests & Bottom Diaphragms. (So, is it really HFB, or HFD?? I've seen it posted both ways.) I'm smack dab in the middle; between my old back cell and the new Delta Cell. Which I thought might be sorta awkward, but it's all SO OVER, that I think it's gonna be OK. I really think it's gonna be OK. Maybe. I hope. Sometimes you just need a change.

Friday I turned 49. My last year to be 40-something. Yikes! I got up at 3:00 A.M., started working at 5:00, worked 10 hours, and got off at 3:30 P.M. Bob left the dealership at 4:45 and took a quick bath. By 5:30 the Vogels called to say they were ready, and I called Doug & Lynda to tell them we were leaving. Doug was still in the shower so we dwalded, but still, how we all managed to be ready at the same time blows my mind.

We drove the MAX truck to pick up Carol, Gene & Jason, then headed to Gainesville to meet Sarah at the Farm Bureau parking lot, since it's right there at the intersection of Highway 82 and I-35. Jason got in with her, so we would be less crowded and she wouldn't have to drive alone, and we both drove to Sanger. Traffic was really heavy--The OU SOONERS played in San Antonio this (Saturday) afternoon.

When we got to Miguelito's, people were standing in line out the door. When Bob told them we were a party of eight, they said that this was our lucky day, that a table for eight had just opened up, and led us right to a huge table, right past all those poor, hungry, waiting people--Heh! They don't reserve tables in advance, and they won't seat you until all your party is there. Luckily, Doug & Lynda were just a minute or two behind us (but not there yet; Bob kinda fibbed on that one!). It was kinda funny how all three of us easily found parking, too, in that crowded, busy place. I even asked Sarah if she had prayed about it or something, because this night just went off without a hitch. More than that, everything seemed to go our way!

So we ate and laughed and had a large time. Sarah had brought a beautiful BD cake from Tom Thumb, and even brought sugar-free cupcakes for her dad. I really enjoyed myself, and I thank Sarah for getting this little party together. She knows what I like! Miguelito's is my very most favorite Mexican restaurant, maybe even my most favorite restaurant, period.

After we ate, Doug & Lynda headed down to Denton to do some shopping, and the rest of us headed back home. I went to bed as soon as we got home, and I was up at 3:30 this morning. I went on in to work 6 hours of overtime, from 5:00 to 11:00 A.M. That gave me 12 hours of overtime for the week. I will need it; I have a big truck payment to make with this check that I'll get next Friday.

This afternoon, Sarah and Loren took Emily and two of her little friends to Frisco, to go ice skating at Stonebriar Mall for Emily's 9th birthday. This was Sarah's 2nd time to go ice skating. I've never tried it, myself, though I used to LOVE to roller skate. Bob and I went to the 5:00 P.M. Mass, and that is the end.
