Haflinger Baby

This is a Haflinger baby owned by the Billette's. He's about 2 weeks old here, I think. He will be sold, Gates said. Haflingers are interesting horses to me, because they are all the same color, and I don't know of any other breed that is like that, unless all the Draft breeds are the same (in that way). Haflingers are always chestnut in color, varying in shade from blonde to dark chocolate. The manes and tails are one of the breeds most striking characteristics, being long, thick and flaxen to white in color. In contrast, for instance, all Quarter Horses have certain breed characteristics, but they can come in many different colors. This picture was taken on October 16th, 2005.

This one-eared goat got up-close and personal with Sarah as she took its picture, the day we went wagon-riding at Gates and Karen's.

The Team

Bob, Sarah and I went riding in this wagon last Sunday (October 16th). The horses are Clydesdales, owned by our friend and farrier, Gates Billette. The mare on the left is named Sara, and the one on the right is Sara's mother (her dam), named Bonnie. That is, of course, as you're looking at the photo. If you were sitting in the wagon it would be just the opposite--HA! It was a beautiful day and we had a good time.
Today is my sister Kat's birthday. She's 57 now. I baked her a pineapple upside-down cake last night at gave it to her this afternoon when she came in to work, along with some balloons and a card.
