Sally on Lucky and Sarah on Apache, close to the intersection of County Roads 426 & 351. We had just come through the gate (seen behind them) onto Ross & Janet's property. Sarah opened and closed that gate while still on Apache...all our "boys" will work gates for us--such good horses! Saturday, November 19th, 2005.

Sarah, age 23, on Apache in the woods north of Felderhoff's Lake (west arm of the lake). Sarah is leading our trail ride and she is riding on a bareback pad without stirrups. That's Ranger's head on the lower right-hand side. Picture taken on Saturday, November 19, 2005.

Ann & Sally

Ann (on Ranger) and Sally (on Lucky) in the woods north of Felderhoff's Lake, on Saturday, November 19th, 2005. Also riding that day was Sarah on Apache and Janette on Gabby. This was Ann's 1st time to ride Ranger--she usually rides the Paint (Apache)--they got along famously. And it was Sally's 1st time to ride with me in a hundred years--what a great time we had! I hope we can do it again real soon.

Heros

I had to post this picture of Amy and Apache, taken Thursday, November 17, 2005, because it's just too pretty. She's a hero(ine) to me, because even though she was scared to ride again after so much time, she climbed right on and did it. My dad was a hero last night, when he helped some neighbors who experienced a fire in a barn/car shed next to their home. The outbuilding was a total loss, but when the neighbor came pounding on my dad's door for help, he never hesitated to get involved, and she, along with her elderly father, could not thank my daddy enough. He was scared when he drove through a wall of blinding smoke and right beside the roaring flames, but he thought the woman's baby, who was still in the house with the grandfather, might be in a house that had also caught fire while the mother was seeking help, and he had determined that he was going to rescue that baby, even if it meant he died while trying. And I have no doubts that that is exactly what he would have done. Thank God he didn't have to; the house was not on fire. But he is a hero nonetheless, for what he was willing to do, and for all he DID do, including pulling her car out of the ditch, where it went as she drove to seek help. And all the while this was happening, Bob and I were at Rohmer's Restaurant, where his boss was hosting their annual Christmas Party. You just never know.

Heading Home

Bob (on Lucky) and I (on Gabby) ride back to the farm (with Ranger & Apache following alongside in the horse pasture) after we, and Sarah, had gone riding together. Sarah had ridden the neighbor's horse, Pepper, and had unsaddled him and left him in his own pasture, and was driving back to the farm when she grabbed the digital camera and took this video clip. Sunday, November 6, 2005. P.S. If the video won't load, then try double clicking on it, or try hitting refresh--it may take some patience--HA!

Amy and 'pachie

Ranger gets a drink from the stock-tank while Amy, on Apache, waits. Amy is my niece. She is 10 years younger than I. We went riding along the road, then into the neighbor's pastures, through the creek, around the lake, then coming out at their barn area. It was a beautiful sunny day but the southeast wind was quite strong and (brrrrr!) CHILLY. Picture taken today, Thursday, November 17, 2005.
