One Snowless Weekend

Last Thursday, January 14th, three weeks after our blizzard here in North Texas, believe-it-or-not we still had a bit of snow on the ground in a few shady places. But not today. Not so far as I know. Today, Loren & I loaded up Lucky & Gabby and we hauled to Gainesville and parked at Edison Park. Then we rode those horses here and there, including to Sonny's and to Amy's for quick visits, and then along Highway 82 out to the old skating rink (now Hubcaps) and back. (And no, we didn't stop in for a cold one!) I guess no one much rides horses in that town, because we were amazed at the reactions we got from all the people out-and-about on this warm, sunny day. Kids and grown-ups alike were thrilled to see us, and our horses were petted over and over. It was pretty neat, really, and made us feel glad we were there. Over and over we heard the cry of "Horsies!" and "Look! Horses!" Sounded just like me when I was little! I chose for us to ride in town because it seems (to me) the whole countryside is muddy, and a dreary-brown color to boot. Come on Spring! I'm so ready.

Yesterday I went to Trader's Village in Grand Prairie for the first time. Jeff, Brenda, Alec & I went together. Brenda & Alec got to hold Sugar Gliders, those "small marsupials originally native to eastern & northern Australia and New Guinea". The were so cute! Later we stopped at Cabela's on our way home. Bob and Sarah had a great day, too...they went to Oklahoma so Sarah could do her first ever process service, and then they went to WinStar for a while, then ate lunch, then they went to watch the Cowboys Fast Draw Club honing their shooting skills.

We all enjoyed this warmer, snowless weekend!
