ELECTION DAY 2010
I am a Christian.
I am a Catholic Christian.
I believe in God, the Father Almighty.
I believe that when we live His Ten Commandments then life is good beyond belief.
I believe that all politics is flawed, and that man alone will never solve all this worlds' grief.
Therefore, in voting, I focus on the One True Thing that I know: That Life is a Gift from God worthy of protection; indeed, He commands it (Thou Shalt not kill).
That a full and complete reverence for life in all its stages, from conception to natural death, dictates on this earth how we treat others and how we are treated in turn.
Therefore I vote, first and foremost, Pro-Life. Every time. EVERY time.

RESPECT LIFE NEWS
October is "Respect Life Month." It may be the last day of the month, but I found this in today's church bulletin and think it is worth passing along:
"It is a principle of Christian faith, anchored to natural law, that the human being should be protected, precisely in situations of weakness; the human person always takes priority over other aims. The new possibilities of biotechnology and medicine frequently put us in situations as difficult as walking on the razor's edge. It is our duty to study diligently to what point these methods may be helpful to the human being and where, instead, it is a matter of the manipulation of the human being or a violation of human integrity and dignity. We cannot refuse such developments but we must also be attentive. When people begin to make distinctions, and often this is already done in the maternal womb, between a life that is worthy and one that is unworthy of living, no other phases of life will be spared, especially not old age and infirmity."
~ Pope Benedict XVI, Address to the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Sept. 13, 2010

One Snowless Weekend
Last Thursday, January 14th, three weeks after our blizzard here in North Texas, believe-it-or-not we still had a bit of snow on the ground in a few shady places. But not today. Not so far as I know. Today, Loren & I loaded up Lucky & Gabby and we hauled to Gainesville and parked at Edison Park. Then we rode those horses here and there, including to Sonny's and to Amy's for quick visits, and then along Highway 82 out to the old skating rink (now Hubcaps) and back. (And no, we didn't stop in for a cold one!) I guess no one much rides horses in that town, because we were amazed at the reactions we got from all the people out-and-about on this warm, sunny day. Kids and grown-ups alike were thrilled to see us, and our horses were petted over and over. It was pretty neat, really, and made us feel glad we were there. Over and over we heard the cry of "Horsies!" and "Look! Horses!" Sounded just like me when I was little! I chose for us to ride in town because it seems (to me) the whole countryside is muddy, and a dreary-brown color to boot. Come on Spring! I'm so ready.
Yesterday I went to Trader's Village in Grand Prairie for the first time. Jeff, Brenda, Alec & I went together. Brenda & Alec got to hold Sugar Gliders, those "small marsupials originally native to eastern & northern Australia and New Guinea". The were so cute! Later we stopped at Cabela's on our way home. Bob and Sarah had a great day, too...they went to Oklahoma so Sarah could do her first ever process service, and then they went to WinStar for a while, then ate lunch, then they went to watch the Cowboys Fast Draw Club honing their shooting skills.
We all enjoyed this warmer, snowless weekend!
